Artist Bio
Naomi, also known as Madcap Mama, is an artist with a passion for creating worlds and creatures that capture the imagination. As a child, Naomi was captivated by vintage cartoons and street art. She found solace in the worlds that these artists created and dreamed of one day following in their footsteps.
In high school, Naomi discovered Surrealism which further fueled her love for the bizarre and fantastical. However, after moving to New York City to pursue an art career, Naomi found herself trapped in the corporate world, drawing and doodling on post-it notes to escape the monotony of the 9-5.
It wasn't until Naomi became a mother to two daughters that she realized the importance of following her dreams and being true to herself. She found a renewed sense of urgency to live out her passion and express the weird, nonsensical, and impractical that lives in her mind and heart without any apologies. Madcap Mama was born out of this realization, and Naomi now embraces her unique artistic style, using oils and acrylics on canvas to create worlds that capture the imagination and inspire others to proudly and loudly be their funky self.
Naomi's journey as an artist is a testament to the power of self-exploration and the importance of embracing one's true self. She now resides in her hometown Buffalo NY with her two daughters who contribute to keeping her imagination, curiosity and mission alive daily. Through her art, Naomi hopes to inspire others to pursue their passions and embrace their inner creativity, just as she has done.
